The Cassone, is the Italian name for the nuptial estate chest, both traditional & primitive symbol of hope & happiness.
It was given to a bride and placed in the bridal suite. It would be given to the bride during the wedding, and it was the bride's parents' contribution to the wedding. This beautiful rich coloured, hand painted large chest would have been used as a bench, it was the most important family piece of furniture in an Italian home & would have been filled with family treasures, keeping them safe to be passed on through the generations.
